ON THE ART OF ENOUGH

Redefining Success Beyond Money

In early 2024, after 25 years in financial services, I walked away from a thriving business—not because something was wrong, but because something felt deeply right. This wasn’t a retreat—there was curiosity beneath it: What if “enough” isn’t about reaching a target, but choosing to feel whole where you are?

I’d always been a numbers person—refined portfolios, sharp strategies, tight calculations. But over time, I realised that for every portfolio, there was a person breathing inside it: a successful entrepreneur who couldn’t enjoy her wealth; a couple with early financial security who couldn’t stop working; a high earner stuck in a soul-crushing job because the idea of wanting less felt inconceivable.

The most powerful moments I’ve shared weren’t about tax codes or algorithms—they were about meaning, longing, and what truly makes life feel rich.

In financial advice, the default question is: “How much can we make?” But the deeper question is: What does enough feel like for you? In a world built on getting more, more status, more accomplishment, more profit, the word “enough” feels revolutionary. Because defining your own enough is the gateway to freedom from chasing.

I’ve seen people hit every financial target…only to move the goalposts again. And I’ve seen others lean into modest means, with clearer boundaries around enough, living in real financial peace.

Becoming a coach wasn’t a sharp career pivot but an unfolding. The skills I honed, the deep listening, connecting values to choices, helping people manifest their stories, were always more than spreadsheets. They were about life.

Here are the truths carried over from decades in planning: real wealth isn’t about constantly seeking more—it’s about mastering contentment. Financial freedom isn’t just “having enough”, it’s knowing what enough truly means to you. You can summit the wrong mountain and still find the view empty. The most precious currency isn’t money: it’s your time and attention.

These days, I support people in designing lives that reflect their truest values. showing up for what I was always meant to explore, the emotional, psychological, and personal landscapes that money footprints don’t capture.

Our culture glorifies relentless growth. But there’s profound wisdom in recognising when enough isn’t a goal. It’s the invitation to write the next chapter.

After all, life is too short to colour inside the lines, and too long to live without meaning.

If this resonates, I explore these themes every day with coaching clients, and in my upcoming book, The Conscious Currency, which views money as tool, test, and current of energy.
